					Brian's House is a supervised Visitation Center, which 
					provides a safe and confidential space for families to 
					participate in positive memory-building experiences during 
					parent/child-supervised visits. Brian's House enables 
					children who are separated from one or both parents to 
					maintain monitored contact with their absent parent(s) on 
					a regular basis. Brian's House also provides parenting 
					classes, phone monitoring, as well as a neutral drop-off/
					pick-up for exchanges between parents who are unable to 
					maintain a safe atmosphere with each other which fosters 
					normal child development free from parental conflicts.

			<title>Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA)</title>

				CASA is dedicated to helping abused and neglected children.

					CASA is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to helping 
					all abused and neglected children find their way through the child 
					welfare and juvenile court systems to safe, loving, permanent homes.
				</paragraph>
				<paragraph>
					CASA volunteers are Court Appointed Special Advocates for these 
					children. The volunteers are trained and appointed by a judge to 
					speak up for abused and neglected children in court. 
				</paragraph>
				<paragraph>
					A CASA volunteer is a trained citizen who is appointed by a 
					district court judge to represent the best interests of a child 
					victim. CASA volunteers, appointed in the role of Guardian ad Litem (GAL), 
					are ordinary people with no special background or legal experience. 
					Volunteers are screened for objectivity, competence, and commitment. 
					After thorough training and with ongoing supervision, the CASA 
					volunteer has three main responsibilities:

							researching the background of each assigned case.

							to speak for the child in the courtroom, 
							representing the child's best interest;

							brought to a swift and appropriate conclusion.

					The Department of Health and Human Services administers
					a number of services to assist New Hampshire citizens to achieve health and
					independence.  DHHS is responsible for all aspects of NH's health care
					system and plays a key role in the planning, delivery and financing of
					health care.  It provides social, economic and support services to families
					and individuals.
				</paragraph>

					A person or family can apply for some DHHS services directly at the
					District Office, by walking in between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
					If you are unable to get to the District Office, arrangements for an
					application can be made via mail or telephone.  Agencies located at the
					District Office include the Division of Family Assistance, the Division of 
					Child Support Services, the Bureau of Elderly and Adult Services, the 
					Division for Children, Youth and Families, and the Division of Juvenile 
					Justice Services.

						Family Planning provides confidential reproductive health care 
						for women and teens. Services include: physical exams, routine 
						laboratory tests, pregnancy testing and options counseling, 
						birth control supplies, testing and treatment.

						WIC (Women, Infants &amp; Children) provides nutrition education 
						and vouchers to purchase nutritional foods for low- to moderate-
						income households. WIC serves pregnant, breast-feeding, postpartum 
						women, infants and children up to their fifth birthday. WIC vouchers 
						can be used to purchase nutritious foods and infant formula.

					We are a non-profit agency providing in-home support to 
					New Hampshire individuals and families since 1985. Our highly 
					trained staff offers a comprehensive array of counseling, 
					community networking, resource development and teaching 
					services to help people of all ages address problems related 
					to trauma, personal and environmental stressors, 
					mental and physical illness and substance abuse. Our strength-focused, 
					empowering approach mobilizes the resources of all family members 
					so that families can stay together and out-of-home placement can 
					be avoided whenever possible. We help families through life challenges 
					such as alcoholism, family violence and histories of trauma by 
					bringing together and organizing the strengths and resources of all 
					family members. Our staff has expertise in infant bonding, abuse/neglect, 
					adolescent defiance/delinquency, depression, suicide prevention and

						the Food Depot, 2nd Comings Recycled Goods and Clothing Store, 
						the Holiday Basket Project, and Meals for Many.

						The Whole Village Child Care Center is a non-profit, inclusive childcare
						facility dedicated to providing high quality, early educational experiences
						and parenting support to area families. We provide programs for families
						that are affordable to all, educationally valuable, developmentally
						appropriate for every child served, and inclusive of all children. The
						center prides itself on providing high-quality childcare at reasonable
						rates.

					Communities for Alcohol- and Drug-free Youth (CADY) is a 
					regional prevention coalition working with schools and 
					communities in the Lin-Wood, Pemi-Baker and Newfound 
					areas to prevent and reduce youth alcohol, tobacco and 
					other drug use and to promote healthy environments and 
					promising futures.  Originally under the auspices of the 
					Whole Village Family Resource Center, CADY is now located 
					at 94 Highland Street and operates as an independent 
					non-profit organization that provides community education, 
					needs assessments, outreach, policy work and related 
					initiatives to further its mission.  
				</paragraph>

					Direct service programs include parenting education, 
					alcohol and drug prevention curriculum, and the 
					sponsorship of chem-free teen programming at area schools 
					and community centers. CADY also co-sponsors an anonymous 
					tip-line for community members to report concerns about 
					underage alcohol or drug activity through Project Monitor 
					(536-1804 x 7).

					The Pemi-Baker Literacy Task Force is a private non profit organization that grew out of a series of community meetings representing over sixteen organizations at Pease Public Library in Plymouth that began in May, 2001.   The mission of the Task Force is to facilitate and support the spread of literacy in the total community.  Currently our services include:
				</paragraph>
				<paragraph>
					- Free one-to-one tutoring for adults over the age of 18 in reading, writing, math, English as a second language and GED preparation.  Location and time of tutoring is arranged to fit the schedules of student and volunteer tutor.  Tutoring does not occur in private homes.
				</paragraph>
				<paragraph>
					- GED class for parents.  This class meets two mornings a week for twelve weeks and includes on-site childcare.  Both the class and childcare are free.  The class is generally held once per year, beginning in January.
				</paragraph>
				<paragraph>
					- Workshops in early literacy for parents of children under the age of five.  Parents are their children's first teachers and play an important role in preparing their children for school.   These workshops offer suggestions of books to read to your child, ideas for making books come alive through songs and games, take home activities and other suggestions for low budget language based activities to do at home.

					assistance, <i>Voices Against Violence</i> has developed a variety of 
					services that will support and assist according to individual needs at 
					varying times.
